Restaurant Branding & Luxury Menu Design Case Study Spain

Creating a refined Indian restaurant identity for the modern hospitality industry

Project Brief for Taj Palace

Taj Palace Since 1990 is an Indian restaurant in Las Palmas, Spain, offering authentic Indian cuisine through a dining experience built around heritage, hospitality and a refined royal character.

The client approached Abhishek Branding LLP to develop a restaurant identity that would feel elegant, clean and modern, while still retaining a clear connection with Indian culture and premium hospitality.

The brand also needed to communicate effectively to an international audience that includes British, Irish, Scandinavian and Spanish diners.

Rather than developing only a restaurant logo, the project evolved into a broader restaurant branding and hospitality design system covering identity development, menu direction and multiple guest-facing brand applications.

Create an Indian restaurant brand that feels royal without becoming overly decorative, and premium without compromising clarity.

Challenge
Taj Palace needed to balance several visual expectations within one identity.
Indian heritage had to remain recognisable, but the client specifically wanted to avoid excessive curves, ornamental graphics and visually complicated restaurant branding.
The Identity Needed to Balance
Authentic Indian Character • Royal Hospitality • Modern Simplicity • International Appeal

01
Creating a Royal Identity Without Overdesigning It
The brand name naturally suggested palace architecture and royal Indian heritage.
The challenge was to communicate that personality without relying on heavy decorative elements.
Instead of adding more ornamentation, the focus was placed on proportion, typography, architectural forms and controlled visual details.

02
Designing for an International Restaurant Audience
The restaurant serves a multicultural audience in Spain.
The identity therefore needed to feel unmistakably connected to Indian cuisine while remaining contemporary and accessible to international diners.

03
Building More Than a Logo
The logo also had to work across very different restaurant applications.
From menus and stationery to signage, interiors, aprons and table branding, the identity needed to remain recognisable and consistent at every scale.

The Brand Had to Work Across
Menus • Signage • Interiors • Aprons • Coasters • Stationery

Our Strategic Approach

At Abhishek Branding LLP, we approached Taj Palace as a complete
restaurant branding and hospitality experience, not simply as a logo or menu design project.

One Royal Identity. Multiple Hospitality Touchpoints. One Refined Experience.

From the logo and menu to signage, interiors, staff applications and table branding, every element needed to feel connected, elegant and recognisable.

01 / IDENTITY
Logo Design & Brand Identity Development

The identity was developed around the idea of authentic Indian cuisine with a refined royal character.

Instead of relying on excessive ornamentation, the logo exploration focused on simplified architectural cues inspired by palace arches, domes and Indian heritage. Multiple directions were explored to create a mark that could feel distinctive, elegant and practical across restaurant applications.

Identity Focus
Heritage  •  Elegance  •  Simplicity  •  Recognition  •  Scalability

02 / MENU DESIGN
Luxury Restaurant Menu Direction

The menu was approached as more than a list of dishes and prices.

The creative direction was built around the idea of a Luxury Culinary Archive — combining refined typography, premium photography, dark textures, gold detailing and carefully structured information.

The objective was to create a menu that felt premium and collectible while remaining clear and comfortable to read.

Menu Focus
Clear Hierarchy  •  Elegant Typography  •  Premium Presentation  •  Easy Navigation

03 / VISUAL STORYTELLING
Food & Beverage Section Design

Rather than using generic decorative images, each menu section was given its own visual character.

Cocktails, Sangria, wine, beer and champagne sections were planned with relevant imagery so customers could understand each category quickly while experiencing a consistent luxury visual language.

Visual Principle
Every image should support the menu section — not simply decorate the page.

04 / RESTAURANT ENVIRONMENT
Signage & Interior Brand Applications

The Taj Palace identity was designed to extend beyond printed communication and become part of the physical restaurant environment.

Outdoor signage and interior branding were developed to reinforce the same royal yet contemporary identity customers encounter in the menu and other brand materials.

Application Priorities
Strong Recognition  •  Premium Presence  •  Consistent Identity  •  Practical Visibility

05 / HOSPITALITY TOUCHPOINTS
Apron, Coaster, Stationery & Brand Applications

The identity was extended across smaller but important customer-facing applications including staff aprons, coasters, stationery and table branding.

These details help carry the brand experience throughout the restaurant. Maintaining the same typography, colour direction and visual character across these touchpoints helped create a more cohesive hospitality experience.

From first impression to dining-table details, every touchpoint was designed to feel like part of the same Taj Palace experience.

Creative Direction by Brand Consultant Manish Vaishnav

With strategic and creative direction led by Brand Consultant Manish Vaishnav, Abhishek Branding LLP developed the Taj Palace identity into a cohesive restaurant branding and hospitality design system, extending across brand identity, menu design, restaurant environment and customer-facing brand applications.

Creative Direction

The creative direction for Taj Palace focused on balancing royal character, Indian heritage, modern hospitality and visual consistency across the complete restaurant experience.

01
Royal, Not Ornate
Premium restaurant branding does not require excessive decoration.
For Taj Palace, royal character is expressed through proportion, typography, colour, architecture and restraint.

02
Indian, Yet International
The brand retains its connection to authentic Indian cuisine while presenting itself in a visual language suitable for a multicultural European audience.

03
Design Around the Guest Experience
Logo, menu, signage, interiors, staff applications, table branding, stationery and other customer-facing elements were treated as connected parts of the same hospitality journey.

04
Consistency Builds Recognition
Each application reinforces the same visual language, helping the restaurant become more recognisable across multiple guest interactions.

Outcome

The Taj Palace project establishes a stronger visual foundation for the restaurant.

What began as a restaurant logo identity expanded into a more complete
restaurant branding and hospitality design system.

Why Restaurant Branding Matters in Hospitality
A restaurant brand is experienced long before the first bite.
01
First Impression
Signage, exterior identity and digital presence shape expectations before guests enter the restaurant.
02
Dining Experience
Menus, interiors, staff presentation and table details make the restaurant identity visible and tangible.
03
Brand Recall
Consistent visual communication helps the restaurant become easier to recognise, understand and remember.
When every touchpoint speaks the same visual language, branding becomes part of the hospitality experience itself.
